Naseeruddin Shah Slams Sunny Deol’s ‘Regressive’ Gadar 2, Expresses Concern Over Its Impact

Naseeruddin Shah is back in the news. And tis time, he has criticized Gadar 2, the sequel to the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, for being “jingoistic” and “regressive.” The film, which stars Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, has been a box office success, grossing over ₹515 crore nett in India.

Shah, who is known for his outspoken views, said in an interview with Free Press Journal that he was “disturbed” by the film’s popularity. He said that it is “not enough to love your country,” but that filmmakers should also “showcase the truth of our times.” He added that films like Gadar 2 “create imaginary enemies” and “promote hatred.”

Naseeruddin Shah expressed his disappointment that films that depict “the truth of our times” often go unnoticed. He said that these films are often more important than jingoistic films, but they don’t get the same level of attention.

Shah said that he is “disturbed” by the fact that people are more interested in watching films that promote hatred and division than films that challenge them to think about the world in a new way. He said that this is a dangerous trend, and that it is important to support films that make us think.

He said that Gadar 2 is the latest in a string of films that have been criticized for their jingoistic and regressive themes. In recent years, there has been a rise in the popularity of such films, which some critics say is a worrying trend. However, Shah’s comments have been met with mixed reactions. Some people have agreed with him, saying that Gadar 2 is a harmful film that promotes violence and intolerance. Others have defended the film, saying that it is simply a patriotic love story.

It is important to note that there is no consensus on whether or not Gadar 2 is a jingoistic and regressive film. Some people may find the film to be offensive, while others may not. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to decide how they feel about the film.
