In a historic moment for the superstar, Shah Rukh Khan graced an event in Mumbai on November 14 to officially launch the skyscraper named after him in Dubai: Shahrukhz By Danube. The launch, hosted by Danube Group founder Rizwan Sajan, saw King Khan charm the audience with his wit and emotional sincerity.
The event reached a high point with SRK’s grand entrance, where he playfully greeted host Farah Khan with a kiss on the cheek, joking: “Main Eid ka chand jaisa ho gaya hoon. Bahar kam aata hoon. Lekin jab aata hoon, tab kamaal aata hoon!” (I have become like the Eid moon. I don’t come out often, but when I do, I make a grand entrance!)
Danube Group’s Managing Director, Adel Sajan, detailed the features of the 55-storey office tower located on Sheikh Zayed Road. He revealed that the tower will not only include a helipad but also an air taxi station to anticipate Dubai’s future transport plans.
Crucially, the entrance of Shahrukhz By Danube will feature a statue of Shah Rukh Khan in his signature pose. Adel Sajan explained this decision: “The idea is not just to have an office tower but my father’s vision was that he wanted it to be like a tourist destination.” He anticipates millions will queue up for pictures with the statue, much like fans visit Mannat.
Shah Rukh Khan, visibly overwhelmed by the honor, shared a heartfelt reaction: “What can I say? Meri maa zinda hoti toh bahut khush hoti!” (What can I say? If my mother were alive, she would have been very happy!). He concluded by expressing his pride: “When I take my kids to Dubai, I’ll tell them, ‘Yeh dekh. Papa ki building hai’ (Look, this is Papa’s building) although the building is owned by Rizwan bhai! But my name will be written on it.”
