Ranveer Singh is closing 2025 on a high with the blockbuster success of Dhurandhar, and his 2026 lineup is shaping up to be equally ambitious. His much-anticipated post-apocalyptic film, tentatively titled Pralay, is set to commence filming by mid-2026, according to a report by Mid-Day.
Sources reveal that Pralay will go on floors only after Ranveer completes his commitments for Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar. “Don 3 will start shooting first in 2026. After wrapping up that schedule, Ranveer will shift focus to Pralay. The final timeline will be confirmed in January,” an insider shared. This delayed start gives director Jai Mehta ample time to meticulously craft the film’s dystopian world.
Pralay is described as a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller centered on a protagonist’s struggle for survival. The story uses the zombie genre to explore deeper social, emotional, and moral breakdowns, reimagining Mumbai as a devastated, Hunger Games-style dystopia. Insiders also revealed plans for an extensive visual transformation of Mumbai, blending physical sets with AI-generated digital environments.
Large parts of the city will be digitally aged and portrayed as abandoned ruins. While some scenes will be shot on location in Mumbai, production will later shift to other destinations.Pralay marks a significant milestone for Jai Mehta, known for co-directing the critically acclaimed Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story alongside his father Hansal Mehta, and directing the web series Lootere.
This film will be his feature directorial debut, positioned as a large-scale, concept-driven project. Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues to perform strongly at the box office, reinforcing Ranveer Singh’s momentum. The film, produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar’s B62 Studios along with Jio Studios, stars an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt.
