Critically acclaimed actor Randeep Hooda, initially cast as the antagonist in the upcoming action thriller O’Romeo, has stepped away from the project mere days before filming was set to begin. According to reports, Hooda’s decision was driven by pressing personal commitments that took precedence over his involvement. Sources close to the film’s makers have confirmed the exit was amicable and understood by all parties.
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, O’Romeo features an ensemble cast including Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani, and Nana Patekar. The Hindi-language action thriller is scheduled for release on February 13, 2026.Hooda was originally signed on to portray a pivotal antagonist role. However, as the shoot approached, he encountered significant personal challenges.
An industry insider told Mid-Day, “Randeep had started preparing for the role but faced a personal crisis right before shooting. His wife’s health and other family matters required his immediate attention.” The source added that both director Bhardwaj and producer Nadiadwala were supportive and respectful of Hooda’s decision.With production timelines tight, the filmmakers acted swiftly to recast the role. Avinash Tiwary was brought in to replace Hooda, marking his first collaboration with Bhardwaj.
“The production couldn’t afford delays, and Avinash was the perfect fit who was available on short notice,” the source said. The teaser for O’Romeo has already been released, providing a glimpse into the film’s intense, character-driven world. Now, all eyes will be on how Avinash Tiwary approaches the antagonist’s complex arc alongside Shahid Kapoor and the rest of the cast.
