Published on January 17, 2026, in Complete Cinema magazine by legal firm King Stubb & Kasiva, the notice states that from September 30, 2025, Jio Studios “holds and continues to hold a first and paramount lien” on all incomes, revenues, receipts, proceeds, and earnings—regardless of form or timing—arising from what it terms “Commercial Engagements” connected to Ali Abbas Zafar Films LLP and Ali Abbas Zafar individually.
Crucially, the lien is not limited to projects involving Jio Studios. It covers earnings related to a broad spectrum of media and entertainment activities tied to the LLP and Ali Abbas Zafar, including productions, ventures, collaborations, and exploitations, whether or not Jio Studios is involved.
The claim also extends to any entities affiliated with the LLP’s partners or directors, including current and future companies, and earnings from any media-related sources associated with them.
The notice emphasizes that this lien is absolute, ongoing, legally enforceable, and will remain effective until all outstanding dues to Jio Studios, along with applicable interest, are fully settled.
