The highly anticipated Umrao Jaan Ada: The Westend Musical, featuring Neetu Chandra in the titular role, is poised to make its grand premiere in Ahmedabad, India. This production promises to be truly unique, marking the first live performance of the play on an open-air stage in India’s history. The creators are confident that the musical will establish a new standard for theatrical productions in the country.
Audiences can expect a spectacle with 40 individuals gracing the stage, including actors, 4 singers, 14 accomplished Kathak performers, and others. Notably, all performances, encompassing music, dance, singing, and acting, will be executed live without pre-recorded elements. The play will feature approximately 400 meticulously crafted costumes, with Neetu Chandra taking center stage as Umrao Jaan. Additionally, Umrao Jaan Ada: The Westend Musical will introduce two new original songs alongside the iconic melodies from the renowned film starring Rekha. Adding to the allure, the sets will seamlessly transform before the audience’s eyes without interruption.

The musical’s enchanting music is composed by Salim-Sulaiman, with choreography by Pooja Pant. Presented by Blue Wave Events and Gravity Zero, the production is directed by Rajeev Goswami and scripted by Varun Gautam. Following its premiere, Umrao Jaan Ada: The Westend Musical will embark on a tour across North America.
