Early Sunday morning, a shocking incident took place at the residence of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in Mumbai. Two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired multiple rounds outside Khan’s home, causing concern and prompting swift action from authorities. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the bullets were fired into the air. However, the gravity of the situation led Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to assure Khan of enhanced security measures. The Mumbai Police wasted no time in launching an investigation into the incident and filed an FIR under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code and 3(25) section of the Arms Act.
Investigation and Security Measures
According to sources, a 7.62 weapon was used in the firing, indicating a serious threat to Salman Khan’s safety. Security footage captured the moment of the attack, showing the two assailants fleeing the scene after firing the shots. The motive behind the incident remains unclear, but speculations have arisen due to an email threat received by Khan’s office in March 2023.
Previously, an FIR was registered against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar in connection with the threat. The recent incident further escalated concerns as Anmol Bishnoi, brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the firing in a social media post. However, the authenticity of this claim is yet to be independently verified.
Mumbai Police’s Response
In response to the security breach, the Mumbai Police swiftly mobilized 15 teams to track down the assailants, who are believed to be from outside Maharashtra. Senior police officials, including Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Lakhmi Gautam and encounter specialist Daya Nayak, are leading the investigation. Their efforts are focused on identifying and apprehending the culprits responsible for the attack on Salman Khan’s residence.
