The film industry is bracing for a three-way clash set to unfold on Independence Day. On August 15, three films – Stree 2, Vedaa, and Khel Khel Mein – are slated for release in cinemas. Another noteworthy clash is expected between Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again during Diwali. Moreover, reports suggest that a film produced by Aamir Khan Productions might also vie for attention on the big screen during the Festival of Lights.
According to a report in Mid-Day, a film starring Mona Singh and produced by Aamir Khan is scheduled to release during Diwali. While the film is reportedly untitled, Bollywood Hungama has learned that it is named Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos. Alongside Mona Singh, the film also features Mithila Palkar and Sharib Hashmi. Directed by Vir Das and Kavi Shastri, the film is said to have Vir himself in an acting role, and its filming has recently been completed. As per the Mid-Day report, Mona Singh portrays a gangster in the film, reminiscent of Aamir Khan-produced adult comedy, Delhi Belly (2011). Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos marks the third collaboration between Mona Singh and Aamir, following 3 Idiots (2009) and Laal Singh Chaddha (2022). While Aamir Khan was involved as an actor in these films, he has stepped in as a producer for this venture.
Besides, Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos, Aamir Khan is anticipated to have another release this year – Sitaare Zameen Par. The film features him in the lead role and is directed by R S Prasanna of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) fame. It is the official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Campeones and also stars Genelia Deshmukh. This reunites Aamir Khan with his Taare Zameen Par (2007) co-star Darsheel Safary.Regarding Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos, there were earlier speculations about it being Imran Khan’s comeback. However, the actor has denied his involvement in the film.Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos has been a dream project for Vir Das. In a 2018 interview to GQ, he mentioned, “It (Happy Patel Khatarnaak Jasoos) is going to be in the Austin Powers, Johnny English action-comedy territory, which is kind of unexplored in India.”
