After nearly a decade-long hiatus, Bollywood actor Imran Khan is set to grace the screen once again. Khan has been meticulously searching for the perfect project to mark his comeback, and it seems he has found the ideal opportunity in a light-hearted romantic comedy for Netflix. The upcoming film will see Imran Khan collaborate with his uncle, the acclaimed actor Aamir Khan. Under the leadership of its newly appointed CEO Aparna Purohit, Aamir Khan Productions will be producing the untitled rom-com, marking the production company’s first foray into the OTT platform.
According to a report in Peeping Moon, the film will be helmed by Danish Aslam, who previously directed Khan and Deepika Padukone in the 2010 comedy “Break Ke Baad.” Aamir Khan, who launched his nephew’s acting career in the 1988 film “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” and later as the lead in the 2008 rom-com “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na,” will once again be instrumental in Imran’s return to the silver screen. Their collaboration was further strengthened with the critically acclaimed black comedy “Delhi Belly” in 2011.Imran Khan’s comeback project marks a significant milestone for Aamir Khan Productions, as it represents the production house’s first venture into the OTT space under the leadership of Aparna Purohit. This move aligns with the company’s diverse lineup, which features established directors and rising talents.
Upcoming releases from Aamir Khan Productions include the Aamir Khan-starrer “Sitaare Zameen Par,” directed by RS Prasanna, and the historical drama “Lahore 1947” featuring Sunny Deol, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The production house is also backing Sunil Pandey’s “Pritam Pyare,” which brings together Sanjay Mishra and Neeraj Sood, as well as Junaid Khan’s remake of “One Day” starring Sai Pallavi, and Vir Das’s comedy “Happy Patel,” which will see a special appearance by Aamir Khan.Fans of Imran Khan and Aamir Khan are eagerly anticipating the release of this highly anticipated romantic comedy, which promises to mark a triumphant return for the former and a fresh collaboration between the two talented actors.
