Ranbir Kapoor has announced that his successful film ‘Animal’ will be developed into a three-part franchise. In a recent interview with Deadline at the Red Sea Film Festival, he provided an exciting update on the sequel, titled ‘Animal Park.’ Ranbir shared that the team is currently in the process of writing the script, with plans to commence filming in 2027.Discussing the project, Ranbir expressed, “We should start that film in 2027. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has hinted at his vision for the movie, which he intends to explore across three parts. The second part is called ‘Animal Park.’ We’ve been brainstorming ideas since the first film, and it’s thrilling to chart the story’s progression. I’m particularly excited because I get to portray two characters—the antagonist and the protagonist. It’s a unique project with an exceptionally original director, and I’m thrilled to be part of it.
”Released in December 2023, ‘Animal’ features Ranbir alongside Rashmika Mandanna. The film follows Vijay (played by Ranbir), an anti-hero who resorts to extreme measures, including killing 200 people with a machine gun, to protect his father. Despite his violent actions, he struggles to earn the approval of his emotionally distant father, portrayed by Anil Kapoor. While ‘Animal’ has achieved significant box office success, grossing over Rs 900 crore, it has also faced criticism for being labeled toxic and misogynistic by some viewers. In addition to his work on ‘Animal,’ Ranbir has recently completed filming for ‘Ramayana,’ directed by Nitesh Tiwari, where he stars alongside Sai Pallavi. He also has another project in the works, ‘Love and War,’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, featuring Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt.
