Aamir Khan, who boasts a substantial fan following in China, recently attended the Macau Comedy Festival, where he interacted with members of his Chinese fan clubs. During this engagement, he provided exciting updates about his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, revealing that it is a remake of the Spanish movie Champions. In this film, Aamir portrays a “very rude” basketball coach, showcasing a different side to his acting repertoire.
Aamir explained, “Sitaare Zameen Par is almost ready. It’s thematically a sequel to Taare Zameen Par, but it goes ten steps further. This film addresses the lives of people who are differently abled, focusing on themes of love, friendship, and life. While Taare Zameen Par made you cry, this film will make you laugh. It’s a comedy, yet it retains a similar heartfelt theme.”Elaborating on his character, Aamir mentioned, “In Taare Zameen Par, my character Nikumbh was very sensitive. In this film, my character is named Gulshan, and he is the complete opposite.
He is rude, politically incorrect, and insults everyone around him. He has conflicts with his wife and mother, and even fights with his senior coach. Gulshan is a character grappling with many internal issues.”The film’s narrative centers around Gulshan’s transformation, as he learns valuable life lessons from ten individuals with different abilities, including those with Down syndrome and autism.
Aamir noted, “They teach him what it truly means to be a good human being. We’ve adapted the original Spanish film to resonate with Indian audiences.”Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par also stars Genelia Deshmukh in a leading role alongside Aamir, promising an engaging blend of humor and emotional depth.
