CBFC Clears Hindi Version of Pushpa 2 – The Rule 48 Hours Before Release; Alters ‘Ramavatar’ to ‘Bhagwan

Last week, on Thursday, November 28, Bollywood Hungama was among the first to report on the cut list for the original Telugu version of Pushpa 2 – The Rule. Now, we have exclusive updates regarding the censor process for the highly anticipated Hindi version of the film.As of December 3, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has approved the Hindi version, albeit with a few edits.
Notably, the term ‘Ramavatar’ has been replaced with ‘Bhagwan,’ while the phrase ‘Haraam zaada’ was removed three times, substituted with ‘Haraamkhor’ in each instance. Additionally, an unspecified dialogue was altered into Hindi.A graphic scene depicting an amputated leg was also mandated for removal, a scene that faced similar censorship in the original Telugu version. Furthermore, mandatory anti-smoking warnings have been added to relevant smoking scenes.
The original Telugu version of Pushpa 2 – The Rule was approved on November 28, with the Examining Committee requesting the removal of the word ‘r***i’ from three instances, along with the terms ‘Denguddi’ and ‘Venkateshwar’. In one particularly violent scene, the protagonist is shown holding a severed arm; the CBFC directed the filmmakers to focus on the protagonist, minimizing the display of violence. Both the Hindi and Telugu versions of Pushpa 2 – The Rule have received a U/A certificate and run for 200.38 minutes.
Starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, this action-packed entertainer is set to hit cinemas on December 5. Directed by Sukumar, the film follows the surprise success of its predecessor, Pushpa: The Rise – Part 01 (2021), which garnered massive attention in both Hindi and Telugu markets, leading to unprecedented excitement for the sequel.
