Delhi High Court Issues Comprehensive Order to Restrict Utilization of Anil Kapoor’s Image, Voice, and Dialogue in Response to AI Misuse Allegations

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday passed an interim order protecting the personality and publicity rights of actor Anil Kapoor. The court restrained social media channels, e-commerce websites, and people at large from infringing on Kapoor’s rights. The court ordered that unauthorized platforms cannot be permitted to use Kapoor’s name, voice, image, or dialogue in an illegal manner for commercial purposes.

The order comes after Kapoor filed a suit seeking protection of his personality and publicity rights. He alleged that his rights were being infringed by various entities that were using his name, voice, image, and dialogue without his permission for commercial purposes.

The court’s order is a significant victory for Kapoor and other celebrities who have fought to protect their personality and publicity rights. It is also a warning to unauthorized platforms that they cannot misuse the names, images, and voices of celebrities for commercial purposes.

Justice Prathiba M Singh Issued an Order, which prohibits the Use of Anil Kapoor’s Name, his similar voice or anything linked with his identity for contents like producing merchandise, ringtones, and many more things.

The Court further claimed that using Artificial Intelligence Techniques to change his picture or anything related to the actor will be an offence as it falls under the privacy right of Anil Kapoor. The Court even ordered to immediately block the domains like http://Anilkapoor.com.”

Moreover, the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) received a directive to enact a blocking order regarding explicit videos created by morphing the actor’s images.
