A source close to the matter has confirmed that the legal dispute between Dharma Productions and Dubai-based Humble Motion Pictures FZCO regarding the Punjabi film Vyaah Kartaare Da has been amicably settled. This development follows Dharma Productions’ recent approach to the Bombay High Court alleging wrongful termination of a services agreement by Humble.
The source stated, “Dharma Productions had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against Humble Motion Pictures FZCO after Humble wrongfully and without cause terminated the Services Agreement for Vyaah Kartaare Da. Dharma sought injunctive relief to restrain Humble from acting on the termination, along with monetary relief of approximately Rs. 7 crores. The Parties have now resolved the matter amicably. Humble has withdrawn the termination notice and confirmed it will continue to perform the Services Agreement in full, without any modifications.”
The petition, filed under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, sought urgent interim protection pending arbitration proceedings. Court records show that Humble Motion Pictures requested additional time to file their response on February 12, 2026, with a hearing scheduled for February 18.
According to the original agreement dated December 10, 2025, Dharma was contracted to provide consultancy, marketing, and allied services for Vyaah Kartaare Da. The contract also allowed Dharma to recover losses estimated at Rs. 7.25 crores from an earlier joint project.Dharma had clarified that it was not responsible for production costs but was entitled to specific revenue shares until recouping Rs. 7.03 crores as per the agreement. The dispute arose when Humble Motion Pictures allegedly sent an email on January 21, 2026, terminating the contract, citing that it no longer wished to avail Dharma’s services.
Dharma’s petition argued that the contract lacked a termination-at-will clause and that no breach was attributed to them. It also pointed out that Humble had already benefited from Dharma’s brand association prior to the termination. With Humble’s withdrawal of the termination notice and commitment to continue the agreement unchanged, the legal standoff appears resolved, allowing the collaboration on Vyaah Kartaare Da to proceed as originally planned.
