Diljit Dosanjh is currently embroiled in controversy regarding his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3, which will not be released in India. The film, shot prior to the recent escalation of Indo-Pak tensions, features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir and has sparked significant backlash. This situation not only affects the film’s release in India but has also raised questions about Dosanjh’s involvement in future projects.
Recent reports suggested that Dosanjh, who portrays an Indian Army officer in the patriotic war drama Border 2, was allegedly removed from the film due to the ongoing controversy surrounding Sardaar Ji 3. However, a source close to the production has denied these rumors, affirming that the actor remains actively involved. “The news about his replacement is not true. Diljit is part of Border 2, and we have already filmed 50 percent of the movie. The announcement of his casting was made nearly nine months ago,” the source confirmed.
These rumors gained traction after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) demanded strict action against producers associated with Diljit Dosanjh in upcoming films. In a letter addressed to producer Bhushan Kumar and T-Series, FWICE expressed its disappointment over Dosanjh’s casting in Border 2, stating, “This casting decision is in blatant violation of FWICE’s official directive to boycott Mr. Diljit Dosanjh, which was issued following his unpatriotic act of collaborating with a Pakistani actress, Ms. Hania Aamir, in Sardaar Ji 3.”
Meanwhile, Border 2 is currently in production, with filming taking place in Pune. Varun Dhawan has been shooting key sequences at the National Defense Academy (NDA) as part of the ongoing schedule. Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Nidhi Dutta in collaboration with T-Series, the film also features Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, and other prominent actors.
Despite the controversy surrounding Sardaar Ji 3, which is no longer set for an Indian release, the production team for Border 2 appears committed to Dosanjh’s involvement. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 23 next year.
