Filmmaker Raj Kumar Gupta achieved significant success in 2018 with the critically acclaimed and commercially successful film Raid, starring Ajay Devgn. The film, inspired by true events, focused on an income tax raid conducted by an honest and principled officer, portrayed by Devgn. The success of Raid paved the way for Raid 2, the sequel featuring Devgn in the lead once again. The film’s producers announced last year that it was slated for release in theaters on November 15 of this year.
On the other end, we have another set of developments surrounding another Ajay Devgn film, Singham Again, have altered the landscape. The release of Singham Again has been moved to November 1, having initially been set for August 15.Given the close proximity of these two Ajay Devgn films, there were earlier reports suggesting that Raid 2 might be postponed to avoid the clash. Now, director Raj Kumar Gupta has confirmed to Bollywood Hungama that Raid 2 has indeed been postponed and provided insights regarding its new timeline. “Raid 2 is happening early next year,” Gupta stated.
“The specific release date will be determined by the producers, but it is set for early next year.”In the original Raid, Saurabh Shukla played the antagonist, while Raid 2 will introduce Riteish Deshmukh as Devgn’s new nemesis. Interestingly, Riteish recently starred in Gupta’s web series Pill, where he took on the role of a protagonist battling a corrupt pharmaceutical company. When asked about the experience of directing Riteish in two contrasting roles, Gupta remarked, “We will discuss Raid 2 in more detail during the promotions, including his character. Working with him in both Pill and Raid 2 has been a fantastic experience.
