After a hiatus of four years, Bollywood’s Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan, made a triumphant return to the silver screen in January 2023 with the epic spy action thriller “Pathaan.” The power-packed actioner, featuring King Khan alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, revitalized the Hindi film industry by crossing the monumental Rs 1000 crore mark at the box office. Since the blockbuster’s release, fans have eagerly awaited news of its sequel, and finally, an update on the commencement of shooting has emerged. “Pathaan 2” is set to commence filming in 2024.
According to reports, the makers have decided to initiate the filming of “Pathaan’s” sequel later this year, with production expected to kick off by the end of 2024. Initially, plans were in place for SRK and Salman’s “Tiger vs Pathaan,” but there has been a shift in the timeline. A source disclosed to Pinkvilla, “This is the twist to the YRF Spy Universe timeline – ‘Pathaan 2’ will precede ‘Tiger vs Pathaan’ and will set the stage for the clash of two cinematic legends on the big screen. Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of Pathaan has strongly resonated with audiences, leading to persistent demand from viewers to witness more of SRK in the spy avatar. Following its release in January 2023, Adi and SRK decided to expand ‘Pathaan’ into a standalone franchise within the Spy Universe, prompting the conception of the sequel to this timeless blockbuster.”
The source further revealed that “Pathaan 2” will incorporate the theme of “Tiger vs Pathaan.” “Pathaan 2” is envisioned as the flagship spy film of the universe, laying the groundwork for a larger conflict in the future. It will mark the next phase of the YRF Spy Universe’s timeline, setting the stage for the epic showdown between Tiger and Pathaan (“Tiger vs Pathaan”) in the future timeline,” they explained.
