Google Trends’ 2025 rankings for the most-searched movies in India reveal a clear dominance by Bollywood. Films like Saiyaara, War 2, Sanam Teri Kasam, Housefull 5, Mrs, and the animated epic Mahavatar Narsimha led the nation’s search charts, reaffirming Hindi cinema’s strong influence across digital platforms. However, despite this homegrown popularity, not a single Hindi film—or any Indian movie—made it into Google’s global Top 10 most-searched films for the year.
Within India, Hindi films clearly captured the public’s attention. Saiyaara stood out as a top romantic musical and one of Mohit Suri’s most discussed releases. War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, remained one of the year’s most anticipated action spectacles. The nostalgic Sanam Teri Kasam saw renewed interest ahead of its 2026 sequel, boosting its search presence. The comedy franchise Housefull 5 maintained strong online buzz thanks to its star-studded cast and franchise legacy, while Mrs, starring Sanya Malhotra, sparked conversations for its layered storytelling and digital release.
Meanwhile, Mahavatar Narsimha emerged as the biggest Indian animated hit of the year, further cementing Hindi cinema’s grip on search trends. South Indian blockbusters like Kantara Chapter 1, Coolie, Marco, and Game Changer also featured prominently in India’s search list, but Hindi films remained the dominant cluster. The absence of any Indian title in the global Top 10 reflects a demographic difference in worldwide search interests.
As Indian cinema continues to grow through star-driven blockbusters and popular OTT content, 2025’s search data highlights a key insight: strong national popularity doesn’t always translate to global trending status. With several major Hindi releases lined up for 2026, the coming year will reveal whether any Indian film can break into the global search charts.
