It’s been a long time since I’ve seen an interesting box office fight in B Town. Now, we see movie theaters are finally bustling with activity, especially after the deadly pandemic. The year 2023 has been a good one for the film industry, and two recent sequels have taken the box office by storm. After enjoying Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in theaters, moviegoers are now flocking to see Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2, which is facing off against Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam’s OMG 2 at the box office.
Gadar 2 has been leading the race by a wide margin, but Akshay Kumar’s film has also managed to draw in audiences and perform well. Despite facing competition from each other, both films earned a significant amount of money on their third day of release. Here are the details:
Gadar 2 earned an estimated ₹40.10 crore on its opening day, ₹43 crore on its second day, and on third day it managed to gain ₹48 crore thus entering into the 100 crore club within three days only. On the contrary, OMG 2 earned an estimated ₹10.26 crore on its opening day, ₹15.7 crore on its second day, and ₹22 crore on its third day.
These are impressive numbers for both films, and it will be interesting to see how they perform in the coming weeks. It is clear that audiences are eager to see new movies in theaters, and these two sequels are certainly providing them with what they want. The former happens to be a sequel of a 2001 film, while the latter happens to be a sequel of 2013 film Oh My God featuring Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and others in the leading roles.
