In the wake of actress and television personality Shefali Jariwala’s sudden passing, many celebrities and fans have shared their condolences and sorrow. Among them, actor Varun Dhawan took to social media to not only express his grief but also to address the troubling way media outlets have reported on the tragic event.
In a poignant Instagram story, Varun criticized the ethics surrounding the coverage of someone’s final moments. He wrote, “Once again, we see the insensitive coverage of a soul’s passing by the media. I just don’t understand—why must you cover someone’s grief? Everyone appears so uncomfortable with this. How does this benefit anyone?” He concluded his message with a heartfelt request: “My plea to my friends in the media—this isn’t how anyone would wish their final journey to be covered.”
Varun’s remarks come amidst extensive media coverage of Shefali’s death, which included videos of her cremation rituals. Earlier, Shefali’s husband and fellow actor Parag Tyagi had also made a heartfelt appeal to the paparazzi gathered outside Cooper Hospital in Bandra, urging them to stop filming. Clearly upset, Parag folded his hands and implored, “Please, mat karo” (Please, don’t do this).

Shefali Jariwala tragically passed away on June 27. Reports indicate that she suffered a cardiac arrest at her residence in Andheri and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Speculation surrounds her health decline, suggesting she may have taken her monthly anti-aging injection that day, despite fasting for a religious ritual at home. The use of anti-aging injections is now under scrutiny as a potential contributor to the cardiac arrest.
