On Friday, acclaimed producer Shiladitya Bora announced that actor Huma Qureshi has been cast as the lead in the upcoming investigative police procedural drama, Bayaan. Directed by Bikas Mishra, known for his critically acclaimed film Chauranga, the movie also features actors Chandrachur Singh and Sachin Khedekar. Production for Bayaan is set to commence in Rajasthan this month, with Shiladitya Bora (Platoon One Films), Madhu Sharma (Summit Studios), Kunal Kumar, and Anshuman Singh serving as joint producers.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Rajasthan, Bayaan follows the story of Roohi, a female detective sent to a small town in the state to investigate her first major case. However, she faces insurmountable challenges as her adversary’s influence permeates through the system. Roohi must strive to uphold her father’s legendary legacy in law enforcement.Supported by the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund and developed through LA Residency, part of the Global Media Makers program of Film Independent, Bayaan has received mentorship from industry professionals such as Craig Mazin, Jeff Stockwell, and Ruth Atkinson.
