Yesterday, PVR Inox announced an exciting film festival to commemorate 25 years of the illustrious career of superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan, set to take place across their locations in various cities. This announcement thrilled fans, who eagerly anticipated which films from Kareena’s remarkable filmography would be featured. Today, PVR Inox has revealed the lineup of five films that will be showcased during this special festival.
Among the films selected, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) stands out as a delightful inclusion. The film is fondly remembered for many reasons, including Kareena’s iconic portrayal of Poo, which significantly boosted her popularity. The demand for a re-release of this classic has been immense. Earlier this year, director Karan Johar mentioned during the trailer launch of Bad Newz that he intended to re-release Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in December 2024 to mark its 25th anniversary. However, thanks to Kareena’s involvement, fans will get to enjoy the film much sooner than anticipated.
The movie also features an ensemble cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Jaya Bachchan. In the same year, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shah Rukh Khan also starred in the period drama Asoka. Although the film didn’t perform well at the box office, it continues to be cherished for its memorable songs and the chemistry between the leads. Recently, the ‘Asoka makeup trend’ gained popularity on TikTok and Instagram, with fans worldwide recreating Kareena’s looks from the film, further enhancing its appeal.
Kareena’s timeless classic Jab We Met (2007) is also set to return to theaters. The other two films in the lineup are Chameli (2004) and Omkara (2006), both of which received critical acclaim and showcased Kareena’s exceptional performances. The week-long film festival will take place in over 30 cinemas across 15 cities from September 20, 2024, to September 27, 2024. On September 18, Kareena will attend a press conference at PVR Lido in Mumbai to discuss the festival. Interestingly, this celebration coincides with the release of her latest film, The Buckingham Murders.
