The Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor-starrer Loveyapa is off to a sluggish beginning at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film, directed by Advait Chandan, earned Rs. 1.50 crore on its second day, following an opening-day collection of Rs. 1.15 crore. As a result, the total box office collection in India stands at Rs. 2.65 crore.On Saturday, Loveyapa, which also features Grusha Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Tanvika Parlikar, Kiku Sharda, and others, recorded an overall occupancy rate of 14.35% for its Hindi version. Notably, Chennai showcased the highest occupancy at 56% from just 9 shows, followed by Bengaluru (25.67%), Pune (20.33%), and Mumbai (20%).
The film faces tough competition from Himesh Reshammiya and Prabhudeva’s Badass Ravikumar, which was released on the same day. Badass Ravikumar opened with Rs. 2.75 crore and grossed Rs. 2 crore on its second day. While Loveyapa received mixed reviews from audiences, Badass Ravikumar was largely criticized by critics.Loveyapa is a remake of the successful 2022 Tamil film Love Today and has joined recent remakes like Baby John and Deva that are struggling at the box office.
In contrast, re-releases such as Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi classic Interstellar and Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam are performing relatively well in theaters. As Loveyapa continues its run, industry watchers are keen to see if it can turn around its fortunes amidst stiff competition and mixed audience reactions.
