Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 has had a decent first week at the box office, but it is clear that it is suffering from the box office clash with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s Gadar 2, which is one of the biggest hits of the year. The film, which also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam Dhar, earned Rs 5.25 crore on its seventh day in theaters, taking its total net collection to Rs 84.72 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The worldwide box office collection of OMG 2 has crossed Rs 111.8 crore, with Rs 18 crore coming from the overseas market. The film has already surpassed the lifetime collection of its predecessor, Oh My God!, which was Rs 81.46 crore. OMG 2 has been met with positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, with many praising its social message. However, the film’s A certificate has been questioned by the cast and crew, who have been pushing for a US certificate.
On Thursday, Akshay Kumar took to social media to thank his fans for the love they have shown for his film Oh My God 2. He wrote, “A big thank you to all my fans for the love for #OhMyGadar! You have made this the biggest week in Indian film history. I am grateful for your support. #Gadar2 is now playing in cinemas, and #OMG2 is coming soon.”
Along with his thank you note, Akshay Kumar also shared a video of himself singing the Gadar 2 song “Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava…” as a tribute to the Sunny Deol starrer and to celebrate the biggest weekend at the box office.
A big thank you to our audiences for all the love for #OhMyGadar and giving us the greatest week in Indian Film History!
