Gunshots were fired outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in Mumbai in the early hours of the morning, according to police reports. At approximately 5 am, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle fired five rounds in the air outside Mr. Khan’s home in Bandra before quickly fleeing the scene. One bullet struck the first floor of the building where the actor resides. The police have confirmed that a foreign pistol was used in the shooting. Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are actively searching for the perpetrators responsible for the gunshots.
This incident comes after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) revealed last year that Mr. Khan topped the list of 10 main targets planned for elimination by incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The gangster cited an infamous 1998 black buck hunting incident involving Mr. Khan, which he believed had offended the Bishnoi community. Bishnoi disclosed that his associate, Sampat Nehra, had conducted surveillance on Mr. Khan’s Bandra residence, potentially setting the stage for an attack. However, Nehra was apprehended by the Special Task Force of Haryana Police.
In response to these threats, Mumbai Police elevated Mr. Khan’s security status to Y+ and implemented additional measures to ensure his safety. This included issuing a lookout circular (LOC) against an Indian student in the United Kingdom who was accused of sending a threatening email to Mr. Khan on April 11 last year.
The gunshots fired outside Salman Khan’s residence highlight the persistent security concerns faced by public figures in the film industry. The Mumbai Police are actively pursuing the investigation and are determined to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible.
