Remembering Satish Kaushik, the veteran actor and filmmaker who left B Town at 66

The film industry lost a talented actor and filmmaker, Satish Kaushik, who passed away at the age of 66 on March 9, 2023. He had been suffering from a heart ailment and was admitted to a hospital in Gurgaon, where he breathed his last. The news of his untimely demise has left his fans, colleagues, and admirers in shock and disbelief. He was also an ace comedian and screenwriter. Born on 13th April 1956 in Mahendargarh, Punjab, Satish Kaushik started his career as a theater actor and went on to make his mark in the film industry. He made his debut as an actor in the film Masoom, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Karz which were among his several successful movies, he also was seen in ‘Ram Lakhan,’ ‘Saajan Chale Sasural,’ ‘Karz,’ ‘Mr. India,’ ‘Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain,’ and many more. He was known for his impeccable comic timing and his ability to portray a range of characters with ease.

Apart from his acting career, Satish Kaushik was also a successful filmmaker who had directed and produced some of the most memorable films in the industry. He made his directorial debut with the film ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’ in 1993, which did not do well at the box office. However, he bounced back with the film ‘Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain’ in 1999, which was a huge hit and established him as a successful director.

Some of his other notable films as a director include ‘Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai,’ ‘Tere Naam,’ ‘Vaada,’ and ‘Milenge Milenge.’ He also produced several successful films such as ‘Tere Naam,’ ‘Bhagam Bhag,’ and ‘Udta Punjab.’
