Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, along with director Nitesh Tiwari and actors Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, has made a surprising decision regarding their upcoming film, “Bawaal.” The film is set to have a direct-to-digital release on Amazon Prime Video, as confirmed by sources associated with the production houses.
“Bawaal” is considered one of Sajid Nadiadwala’s most ambitious projects, deviating from the typical commercial elements of dance and music. Given the current market scenario, Sajid, known for his expertise in commercial cinema, believes that a direct-to-digital release is the best approach, eliminating the risks associated with a theatrical release. The digital platforms have offered an enticing deal, prompting the shift in plans from a theatrical release to a digital one,” a source close to the project revealed to Bollywood Hungama.
The film is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in October, with an official announcement expected in the near future. Sajid consulted with the lead actors, Varun and Janhvi, and their unanimous agreement paved the way for this decision. The entire team believes that “Bawaal” will captivate the audience on the OTT platform. Described as a poetic motion picture, the film is poised to reach a wider global audience through Amazon, an ideal partner for expanding its reach.
