Despite past feuds with Kangana Ranaut, several celebrities have come out in support of the actress turned politician following a recent incident where she was slapped. For those unaware, Kangana recently emerged victorious in the Lok Sabha Elections for the Mandi constituency of Himachal Pradesh. The incident took place at the Chandigarh airport. Esteemed actors Shabana Azmi and Anupam Kher, along with Shekhar Suman and his son Adhyayan Suman, have strongly condemned the behavior of the security personnel involved.
Taking to Twitter, Shabana Azmi expressed her opinion, stating, “I have no love lost for #Kangana Ranaut. But I can’t find myself joining this chorus of celebrating ‘the slap’. If security personnel start taking law into their hands, none of us can be safe.”Anupam Kher also addressed the incident at a recent event, where he stated, “I deeply regret that a woman decided to take advantage of her position and engage in such an act, which is completely wrong. She should be punished legally. While I understand that she may have had her grievances, it doesn’t justify expressing her anger by taking advantage of her position.”Kher continued, “There are many democratic ways to express disagreement with someone’s past statements that have affected you.
But resorting to such actions is very sad and unfortunate. This is not just because Kangana is an MP or an actress, but because she is a woman. I believe that any kind of violence towards anyone, not just women, is unacceptable. Tomorrow, anyone can engage in such behavior and make excuses. That is wrong.”Shekhar Suman also expressed his disappointment over the incident, stating, “This is wrong, terribly wrong. It was very unfortunate, and it shouldn’t happen to anyone. No one has the right to do this. What she has done is illegal, and she should be punished for it.
While I understand that she may have had anger or protest in her mind, the way she expressed it was very wrong. It could have been done in a more decent manner. You can’t raise your hand against anyone like this.” Adhyayan Suman nodded in agreement with his father’s sentiments.
