Readers may remember that Bollywood Hungama was one of the first publications to share updates on Shah Rukh Khan’s eagerly awaited project, King. We reported early on that Sajid Nadiadwala had stepped away from the title, paving the way for SRK’s next big-screen venture. Since then, King has consistently made headlines, and recent buzz indicates that the cast is currently on a short break before a significant shooting schedule in Europe, set to commence in the last week of August.
European Shooting Locations
According to a report by Mid-Day, a source close to the production revealed, “Locations are currently being finalized. The shortlisted cities include Budapest, Prague, and potentially Berlin, where intricate chase sequences will be filmed. Siddharth wants these sequences to be visually stunning and has instructed his team to scout for some never-before-seen locales.” The insider further mentioned, “These will be quick, smaller-unit shoots designed to fill in plot gaps without requiring the full crew’s presence.”
Directorial Changes and Creative Vision
Earlier, Bollywood Hungama exclusively reported that Siddharth Anand had taken over as director of King, which features Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan. Initially, Sujoy Ghosh was set to direct the film, but Anand later joined the project and reworked the script to provide a larger-than-life cinematic experience, which ultimately delayed the film’s shoot to June.
An industry insider commented, “Siddharth Anand and Shah Rukh Khan had great success with Pathaan, and with King, the aim is to surpass the benchmark set by the YRF Spy Universe film. Sid wants everything to be perfect on paper before the shoot begins.”
Debut and Ensemble Cast
King will mark the big-screen debut of Suhana Khan, who previously made her acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies on Netflix. The film will also feature a stellar ensemble cast, including Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhay Verma, and Jaideep Ahlawat. Fans eagerly await more updates as the project progresses!
