Netflix kicked off this year with a splash, delivering an impressive lineup of long-form content, including Black Warrant, Dabba Cartel, and Khakee – The Bengal Chapter. Now, it adds another exciting web series to the mix: The Royals. Directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, The Royals features a talented cast, including Ishaan Khatter, Bhumi Pednekar, Sakshi Tanwar, Zeenat Aman, Nora Fatehi, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Milind Soman, and Dino Morea.
The trailer for The Royals teases a charming royal rom-com, with visuals reminiscent of a Disney production, and even evokes memories of the title design from Khoobsurat, starring Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan. Spanning 2 minutes and 47 seconds, the trailer attempts to lay out the premise in detail.Set in the regal backdrop of Morpur, the story follows Ishaan, a prince, as he encounters Bhumi, a princess of her own realm. Their worlds collide in a business-oriented scenario that involves deals and financial intricacies within the royal context—though the specifics might be a bit convoluted!
Amidst the chaos, Ishaan and Bhumi find themselves falling in love, though the prince describes their relationship as a “situationship.” Adding to the mix is Nora Fatehi, who succinctly summarizes the unfolding drama with the line, “Affairs ka future nahi hota, hamara hai!”The cast is undeniably attractive, each character engaged in the whirlwind of this chaotic love story.
However, my biggest disappointment lies in the limited appearance of Zeenat Aman. Honestly, I could have watched the trailer multiple times if she had even a brief moment on screen! Her minimal presence raises concerns about her role in the series, leaving me anxious about her significance in the story. Overall, the trailer hasn’t fully captivated me, as I struggled to grasp the dynamics of this royal romance surrounded by so many stunning actors, leaving me somewhat distracted.
