Varun Dhawan, who enjoyed both critical acclaim and box office success with his previous collaborations with director Shashank Khaitan—Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017)—is reuniting with him once again for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. Originally slated for release on September 12, Bollywood Hungama has now learned that the film’s release has been postponed.
A source shared, “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has been pushed to October 2. Producer Karan Johar and the entire team feel that this festive period is the perfect time to release this romcom. This year, Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra fall on the same day, creating an extended festive window. The makers hope the film will enjoy a clean run for at least three weeks without major competition until Diwali.”
However, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari will face box office clashes with Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 and Harshvardhan Rane’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, both releasing around the same time. The postponement also creates a comfortable gap between two Janhvi Kapoor releases, as her romantic drama Param Sundari is expected on August 29.
For Varun Dhawan, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari will be his sole release in 2025 before he returns with the highly anticipated big-budget war film Border 2, hitting cinemas on Republic Day 2026.Alongside Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, the cast of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari includes Akshay Oberoi, Rohit Saraf, Sanya Malhotra, and Maniesh Paul, adding to the film’s promising ensemble.
