Vivek Agnihotri Expresses Concern Over Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Bloody Daddy’ Streaming for Free, Criticizing Bollywood’s Self-Destructive Business Model
Renowned filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, known for his outspoken nature, has raised an important question regarding the free streaming of Shahid Kapoor’s film, ‘Bloody Daddy.’
Describing it as “disheartening news,” the director of ‘The Kashmir Files’ emphasized that Bollywood seems to be celebrating its own downfall.
Taking to Twitter, Agnihotri shared a news clip about the digital release of ‘Bloody Daddy,’ directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
Why would anyone show a 200 cr film for free? What’s this insane business model?

In his tweet, he questioned, “Why would anyone offer a 200 crore film for free? What kind of irrational business model is this? Unfortunately, Bollywood seems to be rejoicing in its own demise.”
A social media user responded, suggesting that this business model is similar to that of Jio, where free services are initially provided to attract customers, followed by minimal charges to retain them. The user further predicted that other OTT platforms would be compelled to charge less and rely on advertising for revenue, eventually turning into television-like platforms despite their initial promise of an ad-free experience.
Challenging this perspective, Vivek Agnihotri asked, “So, in a way, this 200 crore investment is their advertising cost?” Many individuals echoed his sentiments on social media.
Aside from Shahid Kapoor, ‘Bloody Daddy’ also features Sanjay Kapoor, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy, and Rajeev Khandelwal.
The film is an adaptation of a French movie titled ‘Sleepless Night,’ which was previously remade in Tamil in 2015 with Kamal Haasan in the lead role. Stay tuned to know more about it and others only with us. If you have anything to share, do let us know by commenting below.
