Adipurush has remained the highly anticipated film. Thanks to the ensemble star cast with stars like Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny SIngh and Kriti Sanon. As per the latest buzz, the film has landed in trouble once again. A complaint has been filed against the makers of the movie for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Adipurush is a retelling of the Hindu epic Ramayana, and it has already been embroiled in controversies since its announcement. The movie is being directed by Om Raut, who is known for his work in the movie Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The movie’s cast also includes Saif Ali Khan, who will be playing the role of Ravan. The makers have portrayed the Hindu god Ram in a different light and also Ravana.
As per reports, the complaint is filed by Sanjay Dinanath Tiwari at the Bombay High Court seeking the help of the lawyers- Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra. The complainant described himself as a preacher of Sanatan Dharma for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus.
According to reports, the complaint has alleged that the makers of Adipurush have distorted facts and depicted characters from the Hindu epic in a wrong way, which has hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community.
They also claimed that the movie’s title, Adipurush, is misleading as it implies that Lord Ram is not the only “Adipurush” (Supreme Being) and that there are other Adipurushas as well. The group has demanded that the makers change the movie’s title and make changes to the script to avoid hurting religious sentiments.
This is not the first time that Adipurush has faced backlash from religious groups. Earlier the previous year, when the movie was announced, there were protests from certain groups who claimed that the movie was going to be disrespectful towards Lord Ram and the Hindu community. The movie’s director, Om Raut, had then clarified that the movie would not hurt anyone’s religious sentiments and that it would be a respectful retelling of the Hindu epic.
It remains to be seen how the makers of Adipurush will respond to the latest complaint. The movie is still in the production stage, and it is scheduled to be released soon. The controversy surrounding the movie is likely to impact its promotions and release.
The issue of hurting religious sentiments is a sensitive one in India, and it has often led to violent protests and unrest. The Indian film industry has often found itself in the crosshairs of religious groups, who have accused filmmakers of misrepresenting religious figures and hurting religious sentiments. While artistic freedom is protected by law in India, the issue of hurting religious sentiments is a delicate one, and filmmakers often have to tread a fine line to avoid controversy.
