Akshay Kumar and the entire team of Kesari 2 celebrated the film’s grand premiere in New Delhi on April 15, just three days before its official release this week. During the event, Akshay made a heartfelt request to the audience. He urged viewers to refrain from using their phones while watching Kesari 2 in theaters, emphasizing the importance of experiencing the film with full attention. “I humbly request you all to please keep your phones in your pockets and listen to every dialogue of this film. It will mean a lot. If you check your Instagram during the movie, it will be a disservice to the film. So I kindly ask everyone to put their phones away,” he stated.
The special screening drew a notable crowd, including prominent political leaders and dignitaries such as Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, BJP Members of Parliament Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj, along with Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Kapil Mishra, and Ashish Sood.Lead actors Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan personally welcomed esteemed guests at the event, which took place at a well-known theater in Chanakyapuri. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as this exclusive screening provided a first look at the film before its theatrical release.Directed by debutant Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari 2 tells the true story of lawyer C. Sankaran Nair, who challenged the British Empire in a landmark court case during the 1920s.
The film focuses on the 1924 defamation trial, based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire, authored by Nair’s great-grandson Raghu Palat and his wife Pushpa Palat. In this case, Nair was sued after exposing British atrocities in his published work against Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab and the architect of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.Produced by Karan Johar, Kesari 2 is slated for release on April 18, 2025.
