The weekend brought joy to the industry and trade as Munjya exceeded expectations, earning over Rs. 20 crores in its first three days of release. The horror comedy genre, combined with its connection to the captivating Maddock Supernatural Universe that includes Stree (2018) and Bhediya (2022), contributed to its immense hype. Munjya’s success has provided a significant boost to the anticipation surrounding Stree 2. If all goes well, the teaser for this highly anticipated sequel may be unveiled sooner than anticipated.On the day of Munjya’s release, June 7, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approved two teasers for Stree 2. The first teaser has a duration of 1 minute and 23 seconds, while the other promo runs for 1 minute and 6 seconds.
Both teasers have been awarded a U/A certificate.It has now been revealed that one of these teasers will be launched by the makers on Friday, June 14. In a unique approach, it will be exclusively shown in cinemas screening Munjya. Interestingly, the teaser will be released this week, despite the film itself being almost 2 ½ months away from its release. This Stree 2 promo will provide audiences with a glimpse of what to expect from the film this time around.Stree, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, served as the inaugural film of the Maddock Supernatural Universe. This horror comedy made a phenomenal impact and collected Rs. 129.90 crores at the domestic box office.
Bhediya, featuring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, joined the universe, while Munjya starred Sharvari and Abhay Verma. Notably, Varun made an exciting cameo appearance in Munjya, and Rajkummar Rao had a special appearance in Bhediya. Stree 2 reunites Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film is scheduled to hit cinemas on August 30.
