The acclaimed crime thriller Dahaad, featuring Sonakshi Sinha, Gulshan Devaiah, and Vijay Varma, is set to return with a second season. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the new season is currently in development, with the team working diligently on the script. A source revealed, “Dahaad 2 is on, and the team is focused on crafting a compelling narrative. Prime Video aims to elevate the show on a grand scale, especially after the first season received immense praise. The work is underway, and a shooting timeline will be established soon.
”Following the announcement, both Sonakshi and Gulshan took to their Instagram stories to confirm the news. Sonakshi shared the article and expressed her excitement, writing, “Finally!!! Can’t wait to get back in that uniform,” while tagging Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar, and Prime Video. Gulshan humorously added, “Now… where did I keep that uniform?” accompanied by thinking emojis. Dahaad was created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, centering on the investigation led by two police officers (played by Sonakshi and Gulshan) into the mysterious disappearance of 27 women in Rajasthan.
The series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on May 12, 2023, and drew inspiration from the real-life crimes of Mohan Kumar, known as Cyanide Mohan. The show also featured Vijay Varma as the main antagonist and Sohum Shah in a significant role. Notably, Dahaad made history as the first Indian web series to premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, competing for the Berlinale Series Award.
