Raaj Shaandilyaa Refutes Plagiarism Allegations for Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video; Sends Legal Notice to Accusers

Director Raaj Shaandilyaa has categorically rejected allegations of plagiarism concerning his forthcoming film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (VVKWWV), which stars Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri. In response to the claims, the filmmaker has initiated legal proceedings against the accusers by sending a formal notice.

Controversy Surrounding VVKWWV

Set in the 1990s, this comedy follows a newly married couple whose lives spiral into chaos when their intimate video goes missing. Recently, the film has been thrust into controversy as producer Sanjay Tiwari and writer Gul Bano Khan alleged that the concept of VVKWWV was lifted from their script, Sex Hai Toh Life Hai. Tiwari and Khan assert that they registered a similar storyline with the Screen Writers Association (SWA) back in 2015 and have sent a legal notice to the film’s producers, including Bhushan Kumar and Ektaa R Kapoor, claiming ownership of the idea.

Shaandilyaa’s Response to the Feud

In an interview with Mid-Day, Raaj Shaandilyaa, who co-wrote the screenplay with Yusuf Khan, vehemently denied the allegations. He stated, “We are sending a legal notice in response to their claims and what they said at the press conference. These allegations are completely false. We have not stolen anyone’s concept.”

Inspiration from Real-Life Incidents

Shaandilyaa clarified that VVKWWV is a fictional narrative inspired by various news articles about similar incidents that occurred between 1994 and 2000. He elaborated, “Our story is fictional, drawn from real-life events that happened during that period. It centers on a husband and wife who create an intimate video, and the chaos that ensues when it gets stolen.”He further emphasized, “We have crafted an entirely original script inspired by the news. With so many similar real-life stories out there, how can anyone claim ownership over this narrative?”As the situation develops, producers Bhushan Kumar and Vipul D Shah have chosen not to comment on the controversy at this time.
