Sahil Khan, renowned for his roles in films like Style and Excuse Me, has been apprehended by the Mumbai Police in relation to the Mahadev betting app case. The arrest was carried out by the Mumbai cyber cell’s Special Investigating Team (SIT) in Chhattisgarh after Khan’s pre-arrest bail plea was rejected by the court, which also asserted that he is a co-owner of the app.
Earlier, the SIT had summoned Khan and three others for questioning in December 2023, but he failed to appear. Subsequently, he applied for pre-arrest bail, which has now been dismissed by the Bombay High Court. Despite allegations against him regarding the app, Khan vehemently denied any direct involvement and maintained that he was solely a brand promoter for The Lion Book under contract with M/s. Isports247. However, the police have persisted with their claims that he is a co-owner of the app. As a result, he is being brought to Mumbai via Raipur and is expected to appear before the court this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Khan has asserted that he signed a 24-month contract with the company to post promotional videos on his social media, receiving a fixed remuneration of Rs. 3 lakhs per month. After stating that he was a brand promoter, he applied for pre-bail, which was ultimately rejected due to the alleged direct involvement attributed to him in the illegal operation.
In 2023, the crime branch investigating the Mahadev betting app case had summoned Khan and three others to record their statements on December 15. However, Khan failed to cooperate and remained active on social media, posting photos and videos, which drew criticism for his non-compliant behavior.
