Vanvaas Box Office: Anil Sharma’s Nana Patekar-Starrer Opens to a Modest Start

Vanvaas had a slow opening at the box office, earning only Rs. 73 lakhs on its first day. This lackluster performance isn’t entirely surprising, as the film relies heavily on word of mouth due to its theme and cast. While Anil Sharma directs the film, he is primarily known for his high-octane, big-budget action dramas. In contrast, Vanvaas is an intimate family drama that addresses the challenges of aging parents, which naturally limits its initial audience.
On a typical Friday, one might have expected opening day figures similar to those of Uunchai, another family-oriented film led by Amitabh Bachchan, which opened at Rs. 1.81 crore. This indicates the inherent limitations of the genre, suggesting that Vanvaas could have realistically aimed for an opening of Rs. 1.50-2 crores. However, the overwhelming success of Pushpa 2: The Rule has overshadowed other films, creating a challenging environment for smaller releases like Vanvaas. Additionally, Mufasa: The Lion King has also debuted, further complicating the competition landscape as it serves as a secondary option for audiences.
As the film progresses, it remains to be seen whether the Nana Patekar and Utkarsh Sharma starrer can gain traction through positive word of mouth. Ideally, the numbers would need to double over the weekend to create some momentum. If growth is limited to around 50%, sustaining interest may prove difficult, especially with the impending competition from Baby John, which is set to release on Wednesday, December 25. The coming days will be crucial in determining the overall success and longevity of Vanvaas at the box office.
Meanwhile, Taran Adarsh, the trade pundit also shared the updates on the film’s collection, have a look at his tweet:
