The recent announcement of the fourth installment in the Race franchise has sent waves of excitement among fans. A significant factor fueling this anticipation is the return of Saif Ali Khan, who was the leading star in the first two films before being replaced by Salman Khan in Race 3.
Shiraz Ahmed, the writer behind all four films, recently shared insights about Race 4 in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama. He confirmed that filming will commence in January 2025, adding, “The script is almost completed, and so is the casting.” While the casting of Saif Ali Khan and Sidharth Malhotra has already been made public, Ahmed mentioned that the remainder of the cast will be revealed by Tips Films at an appropriate time.
Ahmed also elaborated on the narrative direction for Race 4, stating, “We have continued the story and characters from Race 1 and 2. We have gone back to the same world of the first two films.” This return to the franchise’s roots aims to rekindle the essence that made the earlier films successful.Although Race 3 achieved box office success, it faced a considerable amount of criticism. Reflecting on this, Ahmed acknowledged, “In Race 3, we shifted a bit from the Race franchise in terms of characters.
” He suggested that if viewers approached the movie without the Race title, they might have enjoyed it more. He pointed out the challenges of incorporating Salman Khan, noting that his fans typically do not favor him in negative roles, which limited the storyline’s direction.Produced by Tips Films, the original films were directed by the renowned duo Abbas-Mustan, while Remo D’Souza took the reins for the third film. As for the director of Race 4, that decision remains undecided.
